Mind the Gap: The Difference Between Perceived and Actual Cybersecurity in SMBs

Many SMBs believe they are “secure enough”—but are they? Using results from a large-scale, multi-country ESET SMB survey, this session explores the growing gap between perceived and actual cybersecurity readiness in the SMB segment. We examine why this gap exists, how it varies across regions, and how threat actors continue to exploit it. The session offers a forward-looking perspective on what must change—in technology, education, and partnerships—to meaningfully improve SMB cyber resilience worldwide.
